Indivisible Bemidji invites you to attend a health care rally in the St. Paul Capitol Rotunda Thursday, April 27th from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. A public reception in the L’Etoile du Nord Vault Room – located below the Rotunda – will follow from 3:30 to 5:00pm.
All Indivisible groups throughout Minnesota are invited to attend and share their progressive voices with our state legislators, state executive officers and administrators, and the public.
Change.org Petition: All groups are encouraged to share with their members and friends this petition, which calls upon our State Legislature to adopt universal health care in Minnesota. John Marty, the author of the bill the petition asks to be adopted by our State Legislature, will speak at the rally.
Senator John Marty (DFL-66) has long been advocating for the Minnesota Health Plan (MHP): a single, statewide plan that would cover all Minnesotans for all their medical needs. The latest version of the legislation was introduced in January 2017 by Senator Marty and Representative David Bly (DFL-20B). The text of the legislation can be viewed here: 2017 MHP Bill. Our online petition referenced above calls for the adoption of the MHP.
State Rep. Erin Murphy, DFL-St. Paul, who has announced her candidacy for governor, and presumed candidate Rep. Paul Thissen, DFL-Minneapolis, have confirmed they will speak at the event. We are inviting other state legislators and state executive officers to speak. In addition, we expect that Indivisible members from each group will have an opportunity to speak.
To offset our costs for renting AV equipment and tables, and purchasing food for the reception, we are requesting a contribution of $30 from each participating group.
